About the film
More about The Edge
At the centre of the story are two immigrant women: Feven, a sophisticated, educated Ethiopian woman, and Ash, an assertive and promiscuous Indian woman. Their complicated best-friend relationship fuels much of the comedy and the drama in this story.
We are interested in a new version of the immigrant narrative. We aim to break away from the stereotypical portrayals of immigrant characters. Too often, immigrant stories are narrowly framed around cultural identity struggles, which fail to reflect the diverse and evolving realities of today’s diaspora. These limited depictions influence not only how the world views immigrants but also how we view ourselves. Through our two lead protagonists, Feven and Ash, we offer a new lens—one that places them in relatable, urban contexts that transcend geographic and cultural boundaries.
Through a lens of humour and heart, The Edge unravels the ways in which people cope with their circumstances and reflects the deeper vulnerabilities, aspirations, and flaws that drive us. Through each character's choices and beliefs, we explore the grey areas of human behavior, whether they are related to drug-use, friendship, or morality.

While the story touches on heavy themes including drug use, the immigrant experience, and death, it is intentionally fueled with comedy making this a disarming yet poignant story. Through relatable characters and comedic moments, the film seeks to foster empathy and highlight our shared experiences in an increasingly divided world.
